Liquidation PNL vs. Trading PNL

In futures trading, when a position is partially or fully closed (either manually or by liquidation), the system breaks down profit and loss (PNL) into different components to help you track the changes to your funds.

Trading PNL
Trading PNL is the profit or loss incurred while holding a position. Trading PNL has two categories based on how its triggered.
• Manual Close PNL: Profit or loss from manually closing part or all of a position.
• Liquidation PNL: Loss incurred when a position is liquidated by the system, calculated as the difference between the entry price and the liquidation price.

Liquidation Fee
The loss incurred between the liquidation price and the bankruptcy price when the platform assumes control of the position.

Closing PNL
Closing PNL is the final profit and loss for the entire holding period, which includes: • The trade’s PNL • Liquidation fee (if applicable) • Funding fees • Trading fees

Why is the closing PNL different from the trading PNL?
In older versions, liquidation fees (the loss between the liquidation price and the final execution price) used to be merged into the closing PNL of a trade. As a result, the closing PNL and trading PNL may differ in past cases of liquidation.

Why can’t I see the liquidation fee?
If you're using an older version of the system or checking the PNL of historical positions, the liquidation fee may not be shown separately due to how the system was initially designed. This may cause differences when comparing your expected PNL. The closing PNL used to include the additional loss incurred during liquidation (i.e., the difference between the liquidation price and the bankruptcy price), though this was not displayed separately. However, our recent updates have optimized PNL displays to include a separate Liquidation Fee header, which can be found in the closing history of any newly opened positions.
